I have to say, this was one very wierd comic. And I could not stop reading it.
To call the starting premise odd is not a stretch; but then to see the directions it chooses to take – well I can definitely say that the writer surprised me somewhat along the way.
Basically a young dude named Devin has just exited a shite relationship and his friend gently coerces him to attend his first ever furry-party at which time he promptly abandons him to his own devices. Things go from odd to odder and more then as Devin stumbles upon a group of cannibal-furries, is arrested by his father-in-law-to-be who is also the sheriff and wants Devin for a son-in-law because of his families wealth and to consolidate power – and then the furries are back and there is violence and gore galore! Things escalate from there as Devin ends up kind of dragged along by the furry-people-eaters who are a family and they are being chased by the would-be-law and you can guess that it doesn’t get gentler or less bloody from there onward.
Full marks for a comic where I was never sure who was meant to be the hero or if anyone really even was and it was just all mostly terrible people doing horrible things to each other and nothing mattered. But I cannot deny that it was an engaging read – in no small part due to the artwork which was on the more cartoonish and less realistic side and was also extremely bright and colourful and it all felt a bit surreal.
Read it if you like a little ultra-violence in your entertainment, like things that are just plain weird or if you have a morbid curiosity to try out something new and the above all hits a note in your mind.
