>Well things have been.. interesting.
Just to give you guys a quick recap of the past couple of months, its been one hell of a roller coaster. Ive realised that I cant do things like a normal person should (Im not even going to begin arguing about what “normal” is right now.. dont have the time.) Lets break this down:
Down side – New jobs been intense and crazy, work pouring in and out and no time for much outside of it (and little mental energy there even when time permits..).
On the plus side my writing career seems to be in the up for now, publishing and some semblance of niche level fame is likely in the near future. π
Now in line with my pendulous fortune, I am on the road to becoming a published comic/graphic novel writer and thus one step closer to getting the life I want, but the artist Ive found who is perfect for me in all ways i can think of right now – including being on a great mental wavelength together – just happens to live in a country far, far away.. and not a place like the US where these things exist and its relatively easy to set up things like this. No, I had to find one in Croatia. What are the odds?
Again, down side – my youngling, my little idiot, my dog died recently. Im grateful that he hung on as long as he did, he had been ill many times over the years – mostly because of a bastard excuse for a vet who put him in a coma and nearly killed him, but thats another story – and had arthiritis but during his last week he had been looking healthier, happier and been more playful than in a long time and Ive seen dogs with arthiritis that have had to be put down and Im grateful that he went quietly in his sleep. In my view thats as much as most people can hope for…
Heres a couple of pictures for the dog lovers among you, this was a dog that I raised since he was small enough to fit in my palm. π
This is him in a standard “Im just gonna use you as my pillow and chill” pose..
This one’s a classic that my sis had to use my crappy phone camera to get, my dog and me both on the floor, fast aleep side by side.
Back to more good things now!
I recently went on a self-renewal bender, decided I needed to get the fuck out and find something to do to revitalise my mind and spirit – there’s a great many things I love about the city, dont get me wrong a major part of me is a city boy, but in my heart I love simpler things.
So pretty last minute plans were made and 5 of us decided to just pack our bags and jump ship and so we found ourselves in Kashmir for 2 weeks (thats 2 weeks vacation that I didnt use at all the whole of last year so it turns out my choice to not take stupid little holidays here and there worked!). It was two weeks of utter and total bliss and heaven.
For the first time in a long time I felt home. Just at peace and able to hear the voices in my head again! π I read again, calmed the inner me, wrote a little, fished, sang around a campfire, trekked, took amazing photographs.. no phone, no tv, no news, no nothing.. make no mistake, its true what they say when they call Kashmir gods own country.
Three years since my last visit and it took my breath away. I wish I was there right now.. (you could tell? no shocker there!)
But I intend to repeat (hopefully) the success of my last travel journal to Egypt and give you guys a travelogue of my time there, complete with pictures and anecdotes (that I can remember) so stick around in the days to come.

On to other things than my personal life:
I notice that people are uptight, stressed, over heated (well with a heatwave on in most of the country thats hardly surprising) thanks to generally high temperatures everywhere, scared still – and stiff in some cases – by the way things around the world dont really seem to get much better in a case of ‘one step forward-two steps back’ and its not looking to improve anytime.
Between Iran, Maoists in Bengal, recession, blah, blah, blah… I think we’re killing ourselves somewhat and thats really pissing off..
I mean Ive seen some pretty shitty things, but over time Ive started becoming more and more chilled about it, a little ambivilant admittedly and less stressed. Ive reached and crossed over the philosophical hurdle of mortality, I dont really care about it anymore and being more or less an aetheist Im not worried about what comes next – on that Im very ‘Ce la Vei’ kids.
Lifes short and in many ways its cliche but true that life is what it is.
Marcus Aurelius said in his Meditations, “If god exists, we need not worry. If he does not, then we need not be aimless.” (forgive any error in text, this is as close as my memory of it is at the moment, its been awhile..)
But I want you guys to think on this. Life is what it is and you cant change a whole lot of things, but that doesnt mean you just let it happen to you, you cant fight it without sacrificing a lot, but you can also choose to pick your battles, be true to who you are and live simple but happy. To be at the end of your life without regret or sorrow about how you lived and what you were. Can anyone ask for more?
Anyhow!
Enough lecturing, Im going to leave you guys with a song Ive grown very fond of by one of my favourite bands ever that I hope you will all like. Sorry the music player is gone but it was a pain, if you guys want me to put up more music, let me know and Ill do so more often in the future. Enjoy the music and get a laugh out of the smart-ass epigrams I collected for you guys that have been posted below – if it makes you laugh, its always a good thing! π
Cheers!
